Ruthin Rugby Report
The new school year’s activities began with rugby taking centre stage on the front field as the football goals were moved to one side. We have been running weekly sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as offering rugby as an option on the weekend. There has been participation from all years, and of all levels of ability. It is particularly pleasing to see those who are playing the sport for the first time getting stuck in and making great improvements in the first few weeks. I especially enjoyed seeing some boys and girls in the 6th former starting a spontaneous game of rugby on a Saturday afternoon.
In the weeks to come we will continue to work on the core skills of rugby such as catching, passing and crucially being able to effectively work as a team. These will be skills that all the pupils will be able to take into any sport and any team environment.
