Premier League Football Visit
On Sunday 21st October, 21 students and staff went to watch a football Premier League game between Everton and Crystal Palace. The school was very lucky to be invited to look around the ground before the match. It is very unusual to to be able to see the changing rooms and go down the tunnel and onto the pitch. Mr. Keith Tamlin, who is a former Head Boy of the school and now Vice Life President of Everton, made all the arrangements and met us at the ground. In the changing rooms we were met by ex-Everton and Scottish international Graeme Sharp who spoke for a few minutes. The students then looked around the changing rooms and warm-up area, taking photographs of the players’ shirts and looking at the number of football boots each player had (England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had 6 pairs). We then went down the tunnel, past the interview areas and on to the pitch.
The football club then took us to the new Everton 6th form school where we had refreshments before the game; a quick visit to the shop was done before taking our seats for the match.
A very exciting match took place with all the main action coming in the last 20 minutes where Crystal palace missed a penalty and Everton scored twice in three minutes. A great day was had by all, especially with an Everton 2-0 win.
