Football v St Mary’s College

This was the U18’s first game of 2020 and they wanted to start it with a win. Ruthin started off well keeping the ball and passing it around, keeping the possession away from St Mary’s. Ruthin then lost the ball and St Mary’s attacked. Their player took it round the keeper and Nick took him down, meaning St Mary’s won a penalty. Nick then saved the penalty to keep the score 0-0. After 20 mins it was an equal game. There was some great play by Roman on the edge of the box, who then passed the ball to Joe. He shot with his left foot into the bottom corner: 1-0 Ruthin. After half time Ruthin were expecting pressure and they got it. There were long throws into the box and long kicks but the Ruthin defence handled the pressure very well. Full time score 1-0 Ruthin. Well done to Nick for saving a penalty and MOTM goes to Rafael who performed well in defence
