Economic Team Success
One of the highlights of the academic year so far is the news that our ECONOMICS TEAM has won the Regional Round of the Bank of England Target 2.0 Interest Rate Challenge.
The Target 2.0 Challenge is a competition for all schools in the UK that gives four students the chance to take on the role of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee. Each team will assess current economic conditions and the outlook for inflation and then set the interest rate and other monetary policy instruments to meet the Government’s inflation target of 2.0%. The analysis and monetary policy decision is then presented by each team to a panel of judges from the Bank Of England.
This is a very popular and difficult competition – and, for the first time, we win our regional heat. Well done to our very strong U6 Economics students and their teachers: Danial, Rayna, Taiga, Britney
Next – the Area Championships, where we compete against other winning teams from the regional rounds for a place in the final in London. Good luck!!
