Country Games Competitions

Ruthin School’s annual country games took place last Wednesday, heralding the beginning of a new school year. The weather was glorious, the expectations were high and the competition was fierce.

Alongside the more traditional events – egg and spoon races and welly wanging – were the bizarre – space hoppers, human table-top football and even surfing!

This year, technology took centre stage and staff were able to log results in real time, allowing for a running commentary on the leaders and losers. 2019’s unexpected winners were Elgar (perhaps this will be a more prosperous year for the musician’s house).

All students got involved, whether it was by competing or cheering on their housemates and they were rewarded with a wonderful BBQ provided by the school’s catering staff. Fun was had by all.
