Younger Mathematicians Challenged

It was the turn of pupils from forms 3, 4 and 5 to be challenged by some devious mathematical problems. The UKMT Individual Maths Challenges are lively, intriguing multiple choice question papers, which are designed to stimulate interest in maths in large numbers of pupils. The UKMT Intermediate mathematics Challenge was sat before half term by students from these forms. In this national competition Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates are awarded to 40% of participants nationally. The results have just been returned to school and two of our participants were awarded Gold Certificates and have gained qualification to the Pink Kangaroo which is a European Mathematics Challenge. They were Gigi Leung and Charlotte Kwan both Form 4.
Silver certificates were awarded to Mabel Chen, Leo Guo, Chris Ackerley, Yiming Zhu , Ming Li and Adiya Aldebekova.
Finally, Bronze certificates were awarded to Harry Ng, Hoiyin Chan, Shirly Wang, Denis Yeung, Sophie Vawdrey, Chris Kirkham, Yumei Hon, Trang Doan and Alex Murphy.
Congratulations to all the certificate winners. Gaining a certificate in these challenges is an excellent achievement.
