Young Chemists’ win National Award

Chemistry students, Saakar Byahut (Nepal), Bill Zhang (China) and Alicia Chau (Hong Kong) have won the national final of a prestigious science competition.

They were up against much larger schools and colleges with many more science students in the finals of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Schools competition.

Brian Woodget, of the Royal Society of Chemistry said "The team from Ruthin School excelled in the final gaining around 90 per cent of the total marks allocated for the exercises performed. The adjudicators commented that the team appeared to be well organised and showed good team-working skills."

Naturally, staff and pupils at Ruthin School are very proud of our three national winners. Saakar, Bill and Alicia are all predicted to gain A’s in their A Level modules and they are representative of the excellent quality of pupils that the School is currently attracting.
