UK Linguistics Olympiad 2021

For the first time ever, Ruthin School students not only took part in the UKLO, but did so online in lockdown, which makes their success all the more remarkable.  16 of our KS3 students competed in small groups or pairs at the ‘Breakthrough’ level in breakout rooms.  Of these, 8 received bronze awards while 2 received silver awards, placing them among the UK top 20% and top 10% entrants respectively.  The total number of entries at all levels for Round 1 was 2,277.  Only successful advanced level candidates progress to Round 2 and then hopefully, to the International Linguistics Olympiad as UK representatives.  Watch this space!

In the meantime, congratulations and a very well done to all our budding linguists!
