Tough game for young Ruthin Side

On a damp afternoon in Oswestry, and with no back up keeper, our young Ruthin side started brightly. Throughout, the midfield were kept busy and the defence coped well against the pacey strikeforce of the opposition.

An early free kick by Sam J was collected by the keeper: one of the very few shots at the Oswestry goal in the first half. The deadlock was broken as a powerful striker scored past Louis in the Ruthin goal. The team was upset by a decision from the referee, immediately followed by an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Wise half-time words from coach, Mr Rimmer followed.
Early on, Ruthin came under pressure leading to Oswestry claiming a third goal. Changes in the team were made. An Oswestry corner created their fourth goal.
With several refereeing decisions going against Ruthin, the team kept their heads up and were rewarded with 2 goals, and one which was disqualified by the linesman. Some superb, yet strong tackles were made in the second half before the final whistle went. Full-time 4 – 2
The young side coped well under pressure. Man of the match was Richard J.
