Ruthin School pupils celebrate Thailand Songkran Festival

This Saturday on the 23rd of April, Gladstone boarding house at Ruthin School celebrated the Thailand Songkran festival. The Songkran Festival is a water festival to celebrate Thailand’s new year.

Han, a pupil at Ruthin, was in charge of organising the event and below he highlights what was done to celebrate.

How we celebrated Songkran

We decided to do a water fight in front of Gladstone and in the front field. We had an inflatable pool that we used to fill up our water guns and water balloons. We started the festival in front of Gladstone, everyone was spraying water at each other and we all got soaked!

After a while we decided to move to the front field to have a water war. We split in to two teams and moved to two sides. Then the water war started. Everyone ran around chasing after each other and throwing water balloons around the whole of the field.

The whole water festival lasted about one hour and thirty minutes. The only down side was that it was a bit cold and windy but everyone lasted through it. In the end everyone had lots of fun and I thought everything went well.
