Snowdonia Walk

On a chilly Saturday at the beginning of half term, an intrepid group of boarders joined Dr Hannant, Dr Hughes and Mrs Hughes on a walk into the wintery depths of Cwm Cneifion above the stunning lake of Llyn Idwal. The weather was cold, but no rain was forecast so we set off with best intentions of reaching the summit of Glyder Fawr. However, after reaching the hanging valley of Cwm Cneifion it was clear that we were not suitably equipped for the icy winter conditions that awaited us further up. Indeed, cold soggy feet were making some people wonder whether the walk was worth all of this discomfort! A decision was made to re-route the party back down via the stunning frozen lake of Llyn Bochlwyd. We had fun sliding rocks over the frozen surface of the lake, but could not linger too long because of the cold. Once the comfort of the minibus was spied from above, the boarders quickened their pace, leaving the teachers lingering at the back. Once back down to civilization, everybody agreed that the walk was definitely worth braving the cold and I expect them all to signing up for the next mountain walk.
