Ruthin v Wrekin Football Match

Ruthin travelled to Wrekin College which was a long drive of over an hour and a half. The game started poorly for Ruthin with no player able to pass a ball to a member of their own team and was very scrappy. Wrekin were on top and winning all the tackles, Ruthin were second best to everything and paid the price when Wrekin took their chance from good play down the left hand side giving them a deserved lead. Half time score Wrekin 1-Ruthin 0.  It was probably Ruthin’s poorest first half performance this season and Mr Rimmer let us know that!
The second half started with some substitutions; Mikita and Arun came off for Yidi and Ahmed. Ruthin had a much better second half. Ruthin grabbed a goal back with Robin playing the ball to Sam who finished past the keeper. Ruthin seemed to relax, but remained focused and quickly grabbed a second through Sam with Robin again playing him through.  The referee suggested Gerald was making too many fouls and so Abalay replaced him. Richard P. came off for Cheta and he went to play left midfield. Wrekin continued to threaten, but Louis played a long goal kick down field that went straight over the Wrekin defenders and Sam was in on goal and finished calmly for his hat trick. The final score Ruthin 3- Wrekin 1.  A poor game for Ruthin, but sometimes that happens and good teams do win even though they play below their normal standard!
