Presentation to Ruthin School by the Battle of Britain Historical Society

Ruthin School was proud to accept a plaque to Honour Sergeant George Godfrey Stone Laws, a pilot in the Battle of Britain, who was killed shortly afterwards in Hurricane V 6841. The aircraft stalled, making a landing approach, and spun into the ground at Stoke Gifford. He was 21 years old.

Members of Mr Laws’ family, Ms June Derry, niece, and Mr Walter Chandler, nephew, were present at the ceremony along with Mr Clive Millman of the Battle of Britain Historical Society and Flt. Lt. Stefan Brown of RAF Valley, who both spoke.

The plaque was presented to Mr. Toby Belfield by Mr. David Jones M.P. on behalf of the Battle of Britain Historical Society. Mr Andrew R.T. Davies A.M., members of the Council of Management and many local dignitaries also attended. The event was also covered by ITV news.
