Goodman Glory

The swimming gala was, as ever, an exciting event. Trevor  made their intentions clear and established an early lead sustaining this for some 20 events, with Goodman their closest challengers. After the girls relay Trevor had a lead of 9 points.  Goodman whittled this back to one point with the final relay to come.  Unfortunately for Trevor they were disqualified and Goodman came in second winning the competition from Trevor with Kenyon and Casson making up the places.
There were some exceptional performances with Foster  breaking the junior freestyle record by 0.5 seconds and Alex  setting two new records – middle freestyle by over two seconds and breaking the 1992 record in the middle butterfly by 0.16 secs.
For once the staff were able to provide a four – Hannant, Kenworthy, Godfrey and Heywood – to take on the pick of the relay swimmers – Howard, Collinge, Oldbury and Henshall. Unfortunately the staff were unable to defeat the students.
