Ruthin School Academic Success 2021
With A-level and GCSE results released this week, Ruthin School is proud of its continued academic success. There are six places confirmed at Cambridge University and one at Oxford, with a further sixteen at Imperial and UCL and over forty more at other Russell Group institutions.
U6 student Sion, from Wrexham, is one of sixteen students to have achieved A* in all of their A-level subjects. He, along with four other U6 students, is ready to take up a place to study medicine. Sion joined Ruthin School in Form 3 (Year 9) and enjoyed great success at GCSE level. As a true all-rounder, he engaged fully with all that the school offers, particularly sports. He was also an ambassador for the school as a member of the school’s Prefect Team in his final year.
Sion comments: “My time at Ruthin has been fantastic- I was supported from the first day by the excellent staff and have made many lifelong friends along the way.”
At GCSE, another local student, Agi from Penymynydd, achieved nine Grade 9 and one Grade 8 in a wide range of subjects from English to Maths and the sciences to Geography and Art.
Agi states: “Ruthin School has brought the best out of me and I’m thankful for the support they have given me for the past 5 years.” He looks forward to starting his A-levels at Ruthin School, with a view to studying medicine at university.
