Ruthin School students secure places at top universities after excellent A-Level results
22 students from Ruthin School have won places at Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial and UCL after obtaining excellent A-Level results. Many more will be starting courses at Russell Group universities. 14 students obtained A*A*A*A* grades, and a further two students A*A*A*, the majority in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics and Physics. Many more achieved a combination of A* and A grades.
Ruthin School continues to be an excellent springboard for students looking to study at the top universities, in the United Kingdom and similar institutions further afield.
Many of our students engaged in remote learning during a significant part of their A level courses, with some of them studying in different time zones across the world. However, most of these students were back in school in the Spring in time to do internal examinations making the grade assessment process a secure and accurate reflection of their performance.
With 5 places at Cambridge and Oxford confirmed and three more pending, Ruthin School continues to be a key source of top students for Oxbridge. Once again UCL will be a popular destination, with 14 of the school’s best scholars having places confirmed.
“We are very proud of our students.” said Sue Frencham, the school’s Head and the first female leader in 700 years, “The students have performed remarkably well despite so many being confined to their bedrooms in lockdown, often attending lessons until the early hours of the morning due to time zone differences. They are a credit to the school and to their families.”
Congratulations to all of our pupils for achieving such outstanding A-Level results in what has been a challenging year.
