Ruthin School is an Independent Co-educational Boarding School with four boarding houses that accommodate 250 pupils.
These boarding houses are in addition to Gladstone on the school drive, Wynne and Ellis in the main school building and Kenyon East and West on Mold Road.
The School is a happy, friendly, place to work. Staff (both academic and support staff) will say that being at Ruthin School is more of a way of life than a job. It can be tiring but also very rewarding. Energy, stamina, good humour and a well-organised approach are essential attributes to succeeding in what is essentially an extended family.

Cleaning and housekeeping of boarding house and associated areas of the school. From time to time other cleaning duties at the School may be required.
Day to day cleaning and housekeeping of boarding house to include:
- Cleaning of bedrooms;
- En suite shower rooms/communal bath rooms, wc’s, shower blocks;
- Making beds and tidying rooms;
- Cleaning of communal areas including corridors, common rooms and kitchens;
- Weekly stripping of and making of beds and deep clean.
This job description will be reviewed annually and may be subject to amendment or modification at any time after consultation with the post holder. It is not a comprehensive statement of procedures and tasks but sets out the main expectations of the School in relation to the post holder’s responsibilities and duties.
Training will be provided in COSHH, Child Protection and uniform is provided.
It is not always possible to define all the duties and responsibilities attached to the post and some variations may be necessary from time to time.

The rate or pay is £9.00 per hour.
Hours of Work/Holiday Entitlement
- The formal school cleaner working day is considered to be from 9.00 am to 1.00pm with weekend and evening work on a rota, typically one weekend in five.
- Public holidays occurring when the School is in session are deemed working days.
