The curriculum is broad-based and balanced. Sciences are taught as separate subjects throughout.
A Science and Technology block was constructed in the late 1990s and provides excellent facilities for the Science, DT, and Art departments. Spanish is taught to all students in Year 9 and can be an option for GCSE.
Value-added tests administered by the University of Durham are undertaken. The results testify to the value added to a child's education by being at Ruthin.
