North Wales International Music Festival
Students from Ruthin School participated in the final concert in the North Wales International Music Festival held in St Asaph Cathedral.
Sixth Form students Alaina and Blair and Third former Manon played alongside professionals in the NEW Sinfonia (an up and coming professional orchestra based in North Wales) in an exciting and varied concert of music which included works by Aaron Copeland, the young Mexican composer Arturo Márquez and the Welsh composer William Mathias.
After having played in Vaughan William’s Concerto Grosso and being enthusiastic violinists, they were thrilled to have prime seats to watch and hear the young Korean virtuoso Ye-Eun Choi play Bruch’s Violin concerto. The concert ended with a spirited rendition of Márquez’ Danzón Number 2 under the baton of the NEW Sinfonia’s conductor Robert Guy.
