Boarding Trip to Snowdonia National Park

 

A group of boarders spent Mothers’ Day getting better acquainted with Mother Nature while walking in Snowdonia National Park.  Dr Hannant led the group around Beddgelert mountain in glorious Spring weather. The route began with steady climb up a rocky path up onto open hillside. Lunch was taken at the highest point of the route, overlooked by Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales), before descending into the beautiful valley of Cwm Bychan. Alexey, our resident Lord of the Rings enthusiast, was forever making connections to Middle Earth! The area has a rich industrial past and evidence of copper mining machinery and mineshafts provided fascination for everyone. The return route followed a cascading river up the stunning Aberglaslyn Gorge. We were fortunate enough to cross paths with the Steam train from the Welsh Highland Railway, providing yet more photo opportunities. The walk ended in the tourist village of Beddgelert, where students rewarded their efforts with an ice-cream. In all, a fantastic walk.
