‘Pink Day’ was organized by the Ruthin School Fundraising Team who are currently working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award by providing services to the community. Their chosen charity this year is Cancer Research UK for two main reasons. Firstly, cancer affects about a third of the population. Secondly, pupils and staff at the school have been either directly or indirectly touched by the disease.
The response was tremendous with not only pupils sporting their pink best, but also teachers, administrative, laundry, kitchen and maintenance staff for a small fee of £1. At the end of the day, the joint effort totalled ï¿¡243.35.
‘Pink Day’ kicked off a series of fundraising events organised by approximately 30 students in the Senior School. Other planned events include a sponsored ‘Wings of Hope – Walk For Life’ at Moel Famau, Ruthin School’s Got Talent, Pyjama Day, Christmas Dance and a spot of Christmas carol singing around Ruthin.
Two members of the Ruthin School Fundraising Team, Santiago from Colombia and Louis from Hong Kong, have also set up the team’s own website where donations can be made on-line: www.ruschoolfundraising.webs.com.
