A Level and AS Level Results 2016

This year’s cohort of 52 students in Upper Sixth achieved outstanding results, the best that the School has ever seen. The percentage of grades this year at A* and A has increased to 75.57% (last year 72.25%) with over 91% of all grades being A*-B. The pass rate was 100% again this year.

Most of the students have already had their first choice university place confirmed through UCAS, with students going to many top-ranking universities including Cambridge, UCL, LSE, King’s College, Imperial, Durham, Edinburgh, Bath, Exeter and Nottingham.

Top student was Alice Ma who achieved 6 A*. Particularly impressive was her achievement in scoring 100% in all Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics modules this year. Alice will go to Trinity College, Cambridge to study Mathematics in 2017. She is only just 16 so will take a gap year before starting her studies in Cambridge.

At AS Level the results were similarly impressive. 20 students achieved at least 4As, with most of those obtaining marks in excess of 90% in every exam. Rayna Zhang managed 600/600 in all Mathematics modules, as well as impressive marks in her Physics and Economics papers.

Toby Belfield, Principal, commented: “I am delighted with yet another year of phenomenal results. The students have worked very hard to achieve such high scores. This year has been particularly exciting, being the top School in the UK for Mathematics and representing the UK (and coming 2/120) in the European Mathematics competition held in Italy. But, not only are we celebrating the success of Mathematics & Science – a number of the top students will go to university to study subjects such as Geography, Psychology, Economics, Architecture and Law.

Not only do the students work hard – but so do the staff. A big thank you to all the teachers for supporting the students throughout their time at Ruthin School.”

Congratulation to all students at Ruthin School who recently received their results. A fantastic achievement!
